Myanmar rough guide for its deserted capital

In Naypyidaw Captal of Myanmar, there are also pagodas. However, unlike other religious tourist attractions in this country, pagodas in Naypyidaw are extremely deserted. Not many people come here to visit. Even in the museum, there is no staff to welcome tourists but only electric lights which are already turned on when there is anyone entering. This article provides you with some Myanmar rough guide for a trip to explore Naypyidaw city.
Mentioning the name of Myanmar, tourists will often think about Yangon Ancient capital or the religious Biddhist center Mandalay. Not many people hear about Naypyidaw for such a Myanmar independent travel, the actual capital of this country.

Nonetheless, there are still lots of visitors choose Naypyidaw to be their destination for a Myanmar adventure tour because they are attracted by the deserted beauty of this place.

They think that this is the actual unique feature of this city. Besides, there are not many attractive things in the city like other Myanmar tourist attractions except for closed doors of houses and broad roads.

A Norwegian tourist, when visiting the city with her brother, felt extremely excited to see the Myanmar highlights of Naypyidaw with multi-lane highways. “Have you seen any highway which has 20 lanes and no cars on it?” Here in Naypyidaw, this does happen every day that the local people do not think it is abnormal.

Architectural structures in here is also scattered and not in order. On broad roads, there are only some herds of water buffalos and bikes passing sometimes. A Myanmar rough guide may lead you to the most famous pagoda in Naypyidaw with architectural designs resembles quite like Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon without any abbot to manage. Another possible destination for tourists when choosing to visit here is the zoo. Among the animals preserved in the zoo, there is a flock of penguins belonging to the Humboldt species. However, they have died recently due to the fact that the air conditioner system was out of order.

Naypyidaw Capital is a military relic of the Burmese government. Very few people come to this city. The Burmese officials say that they are in the process to restore the capital. Initially, it was built for the military purpose. However, the government is restructuring the city so that it may get cleaner and more beautiful. According to some most reputable newspaper, the government wants to build more parks and tourist destinations to attract more visitors to come for their Myanmar backpacks.

Having been the capital of Myanmar for over a decade, but the population of Naypyidaw city has never exceeded the number of one million.

Naypyidaw is a city that is always covered with mysteries. This place has become the capital of Myanmar after the government officials decided to move the capital of this country from Yangon city to here. From then, although having the total area five times as large as New York City of the United States, which you may read from any Myanmar rough guide, Naypyidaw has extremely few inhabitants.

To be built mainly for the accommodations of government officials so there are very few people coming here to live. This make the place gradually become a “haunted city” rather than a crowded town which it is supposed to be.

The most outstanding feature in the structure of this city is the highways which have up to 20 lanes for cars and transport means to travel. Getting to Myanmar for a trip to Naypyidaw, you will realize the size of each lane here is so large that many big sized SUV cars of the government officials can “cram” in. However, there are reports that indicate in fact, this road was built to be the runway for military planes landing.

According to official statistics, there are roughly 924, 106 people living in Naypyidaw. Nevertheless, images about this city sometimes show that the above number is not true. Actually, in those images sometimes, there are only a few people walking or biking pass through Myanmar sites with deserted towns in Naypyidaw. This proves that the number is still too much for the actual population of the city.

Naypyidaw started to be built in 2002, and the location it was chosen to construct the city is located in the center of a 2000-year-old forest. For a Myanmar rough guide, this city is divided into many parts. The parts for government functions are completely separated from the military parts. Besides, this place also has areas for commerce and hotels, in spite of the fact that the tourism in here does not highly develop.

The residential areas are carefully planned into 1200 four-storey buildings. They are also used for Burma accommodation for backpackers. Despite such housing, many residents still live in slums due to their difficulties in life which prevent them from possessing a good accommodation.

Talking about cultural activities, this place is not less famous than others in Myanmar. The most outstanding form of cultural activities in Naypyidaw presents in the Uppatansanti Pagoda. According to some best Myanmar books about tourism, the size and majesty of this religious structure can be compared to Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. Apart from that, there are tremendous singular parks and fountains which are attractive enough for tourism development in case they receive the careful attention of the government. Unluckily, there are too few tourists choosing this city to visit the places named above.

According to reports annually, foreign tourists and investors seem not to care much about this city due to the deserted appearance of Naypyidaw. Many people even say that it is “dangerous” to spend their time for an adventure Myanmar in the capital.

Although the Myanmar government spends a large area for construction places for delegation offices of other countries and the headquarters of the United Nations, currently there is only the embassy of Bangladesh to be placed here.

Naypyidaw, in fact, has the more central and strategic position than the former capital of Myanmar, Yangon. This is also bordered place of Shan, Kayah and Kayin States. The hotel area has a group of hotels in style of mansions on the hill suburb of the city. In any Myanmar rough guide, Market Myoma Naypyidaw is told to currently be the commercial center of Naypyidaw. Other commercial areas include Thapye, Chaung Market and Junction Centre Naypyidaw. Junction Centre is the first primate commercial center to be given to operation in the city. Naypyidaw also has some local markets together with restaurant area.

Ngalaik Lake Park is a small water park located along the Ngalaik dam, near Kyweshin village on Ngalaik Lake, which is nearly 7 miles from the Naypyidaw center. Opened in 2008, the park facilities include water fountains, natural resorts, rooms for lease and a manmade beach. The park is opened for local citizens for free on the occasion of Thingyan festival.

Also opened in 2008, the nearly one square kilometer wide National Herbal Park contains many species of plants which are used for medicine from all areas in Myanmar. The policy of Myanmar open to tourism is shown in this place in Naypyidaw with thousands trees in this park, representing hundreds different species.

Naypyidaw zoo was opened in 2008 with about 420 animal species and a house of penguin which is controlled carefully in terms of temperature. This is also the biggest zoo in Myanmar, recorded in most Myanmar travel books. The wildlife animal zoo was officially opened on February 12, 2011.

Naypyidaw also has two golf courses (the Naypyidaw City and the Yaypyar) together with a gems museum.

With the increasingly advanced facilities and conditions for tourism, hopefully in the near future, there will be more interesting services in Naypyidaw to attract more tourists to this capital of Myanmar. However, with the current attraction, surely the city is still the preferred option of many visitors coming here with some Myanmar rough guide.
